KERALA PARATHA OR POROTTA    

Kerala PorottaKerala Porotta (or Porotta, (Malayalam: പൊറോട്ട)) is a south Indian flatbread made with fine wheat flour. These are prepared with by a technique which involves waving and puffing the dough in order to form the layers. It is named after the south Indian state of Kerala, where it is a common menu item. It is usually served with a curry dish.

Kerala porotta is only slightly different from Ceylon porotta. Ceylon porotta supposedly originated in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and became popular in Southern India through rubber and tea plantation workers returning form Ceylon. Malaysian porotta is another variation of Porotta. In Northern India, this type of bread is also know as Lacha porotta.
