Vatted Malt is a whisky which is blended from a number of different single malts from different distilleries. Unlike a blended whisky, vatted malts do not contain any grain whisky.
The term "vatting" is used to describe the blending process - and does not automatically equate to a vatted malt.
Vatted malts or pure malts are to be reclassified as Blended malts as part of a process to standardise Scotch whisky descriptors set out by The Scotch Whisky
